Importance of oral hygiene is mandatory when we want to avoid tooth decay and maintain good oral health. It is especially important to follow strictly the dentist instructions for teeth and gum brushing when periodontal disease is present.
We advocate iTOP method (individual training of oral prophylaxis) for oral hygiene introduced by Dr. Jiri Sedelmeyer. After the clinical visit, we advice every patient how to brush his teeth and suggest him the ideal products for his oral hygiene. We do not have general instructions, as they cannot be applicable for each mouth, so we determine them individually. For good oral hygiene we must daily use three different types of dental brushes: traditional, interdental and "single" brush. The traditional brush must be made of soft fibers. The best choice present current fibers as if they are flexible and dense. The interdental brushes serve for cleaning of interdental spaces. The dentist must measure the width of each interdental space and determine the number of interdental brush. It is important to use optimal size of brush, because if the brush is too narrow it will not eliminate the accumulated dental plaque; if it is too width it will not go trough the interdental space. It is also important to orientate correctly the brush in order to pass through without bending. "Single" brush helps to clean wisdom and lower frontal teeth, and to clean each tooth separately.
We also recommend for good oral hygiene and successful periodontal treatment the use of sonic brush Sonicare and all products for oral hygiene by:
